Cafom shows a clear recovery in its results

2020-2021 was a good year for Cafom. The furniture distributor has, in fact, recorded a 25.6% increase in its sales, propelling them to nearly 400 million euros at the end of September. The Overseas and e-commerce divisions contributed strongly to this growth, with double-digit annual growth for each of them.

Despite a context made difficult by the health crisis, the group was able to control its supplies, enabling it to post a gross margin rate of 52.6%. Its gross operating surplus is also up sharply, by 66.1%, witness to the group’s operational success and the good management of the increase in expenses, linked in particular to the growth of the network of stores in Overseas France and to the development of the e-commerce activity.

Further development

Operating and net results, of 44.2 million and 36.6 million euros respectively, more than doubled compared to the previous financial year. Net profit from continuing operations rose from 13.4 to 36.6 million euros, the group share of profit fell from a loss of 9.5 million euros to a profit of 15 million, after taking into account the impact of the disposal of the housing division, finalized in October 2020.

Building on this momentum, Cafom intends to develop its overseas stores, with, for example, new Nature & Découvertes stores in New Caledonia during the month of February. The group also intends to improve its e-commerce offer by opening merchant sites for all of its brands.

The company remains, despite these good performances, cautious about the evolution of the health crisis and its repercussions on supply but also in the face of inflationary pressures.
