Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 presents its multiplayer (maps, game modes, third person view…)

Series call of duty is going to undergo big changes in the years to come, and to give us a little insight into all this, Activision organized a Call of Duty Next to tell us about the future of the license. But before telling us about the distant future, it was important to tell us about the near future, and the latter concerns Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. The title was naturally part of it and as promised, it was above all its multiplayer that was highlighted during the evening.

An episode that focuses on movement

As we had already specified during the presentation of the single player mode, a lot of work has been done on the waterwith physics improvements (when shooting in water for example).

This episode also seems to focus on mobile clashes with lots of vehicles and new features around them. When we are on foot, we will also be entitled to other movements, such as being able to throw ourselves forward or better aim while being behind a low wall.

Equipment upgrades and new maps

On the equipment side, there will be presence detectors or automatons to distract enemies, as well as an object to mark enemies on the screen. Monitoring will therefore be required. The customization of weapons will also be more advanced, with more facilities to unlock the different pieces of equipment and more freedom in the customization tree.

The development team also mentioned the case of maps, with some 6 vs 6 maps a little tighter to encourage combat. Among the confirmed maps are:

  • Sarrif Bay (one of the largest maps)
  • Mercado Las Almas (6 vs. 6)

Confirmed modes

We will find the Territory Wars in this episode with several game modes, which had already leaked. We will find in particular the Invasion mode, which will add PvPvEsomething rare for the series, and which will therefore allow you to measure yourself against AIs in addition to other players.

We also note the return of Special Ops mode to add some co-op, while Prisoner-Rescue mode will make you play way Rainbow Six Siege. Two teams will compete, with hostages to rescue to evacuate. Here, no respawn, but you will be able to revive your allies.

Call of Duty switches to third person view

On the other hand, despite some indiscretions, we did not necessarily expect to find confirmation of the arrival of the camera in third person view.

Yes, you read correctly, you will finally be able to play call of duty in GST mode. This can be activated or deactivated as desired, with the aiming which will switch to first person view to be more precise.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 28 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series. As a reminder, the beta will start tomorrow on PlayStation consoles.
