“Calling her Lilibet is silly”: Jean des Cars tackles Prince Harry and Meghan Markle live on Cnews

Invited by Pascal Praud in L’heure des pros on Thursday April 21, 2022, Jean des Cars spoke about the 96th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, but also the surprise visit of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Jean des Cars was Pascal Praud’s guest in Time for the pros Thursday, April 21, 2022. The author of numerous books on the historical popularization of the great families of European nobility came to discuss Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday. The latter celebrated her 96th birthday on the same day. A few days earlier, she received an unexpected visit from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Indeed, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made a stopover in London on April 14 before heading to the Invictus Games in Holland. A quick visit which would have delighted the Queen, who did not still not met his great-granddaughter since birth on June 4, 2021. Jean des Cars explained: “There is a drama for the queen. This is the first time that a reigning British sovereign has not known one of his great-grandchildren. The little Lilibet who was born outside the British territory“.

Jean des Cars: “Lilibet Diana is to impose on this child the memory of a nightmare”.

Faced with Pascal Praud, Jean des Cars wanted to give his opinion on given name to Archie’s little sister. He confided: “Calling her Lilibet is silly. It’s not a first name, it was the queen’s nickname when she was a child“. He then went on to say, “Lilibet Diana is to impose on this child the memory of a nightmare“. For the 78-year-old journalist, the middle name chosen by Prince Harry in tribute to his mother is very bad taste given the circumstances of his death.

If he deplored the fact that the queen still does not know little Lilibet Diana, it is possible that the situation will change soon. After their visit to Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would have implied that they could participate in the Queen’s Jubilee, scheduled for next June. This time, they would come with their two children.
