In the heat wave, many flock to the outdoor pool to cool off and have fun. But women and girls are increasingly complaining of sexual harassment by boys or men. “Out of 3000 women consultations a year, we do 500 because of sexual violence, including incidents in the bathroom”, summarizes Christina Schwaiger-Hengstschläger from the Autonomous Women’s Center in Linz. She appeals not to close your eyes to this problem. The state of Upper Austria is taking up this: “So that the outdoor swimming pool becomes a safe place for everyone, we are starting the first campaign to send a strong signal against sexual harassment in pools,” says LH Vice-President Christine Haberlander.
