” HASnear Ukraine, Taiwan? The scenario of a Chinese invasion of the rebel island is now the subject of the attention of many commentators. It is true that the hardening of the Peking regime and the increasingly frequent military incursions near the archipelago seem to make it less improbable every day. Certainly, most experts believe that its realization is not for tomorrow. The Chinese regime, which would perhaps bet its existence on it, has every interest in waiting for the most favorable circumstances. But the Russian surprise of February 24 should encourage us to be cautious.
