can I go shopping with my child?

In this first week of reconfinement, the French are asking themselves certain practical questions. Can I go shopping with my child? In a relationship with ? With a friend ?

These types of questions had already been asked during the first confinement, and had even led to conflicts. We all remember images of supermarkets refusing to let in parents with small children … These parents often had no choice, and supermarket managers, yielding to pressure from some customers, had refused. With this new confinement, many questions from parents remain.

Know that unlike the first confinement, today it is not forbidden to go togetherespecially when we refuel for several days or when no one can look after our children. Be careful, however, that going shopping is not a family outing and the number of people going together should be reduced, if possible. Barrier gestures, for their part, must be respected with other people in the store.

Note that it is possible to put one or more minor children on the same certificate as the accompanying adult.

Go shopping as a couple or with a friend

Even if they are not confined to one place, a couple or two friends can go shopping together. To get there, carpooling is allowed, confirmed Camille Chaize, spokesperson for the Interior Ministry, of course respecting the safety distances. The passenger can, for example, sit in the rear seats of the car. As a couple, heightened vigilance should also prevail, but here again, it is not forbidden to go shopping together.

As a reminder, as a couple or with a friend, two separate travel certificates are required, with the reason "Travel to make (…) essential purchases in establishments whose activities remain authorized".
