Canada opens border for corona vaccinated people

From August 9, US citizens and people residing in the United States will be allowed to enter, provided they have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 at least two weeks beforehand, the Canadian health authority announced on Monday. From September 7th, all citizens of other countries should also be allowed to enter, provided they are protected from the disease by vaccines. Visitors would then have to enter travel data on an internet portal beforehand – however, a quarantine should not be necessary.

The vaccination campaign in Canada started a little slow compared to that in the United States, but then picked up speed. Around 69 percent of the 38 million Canadians have received at least one dose so far, and just under 44 percent are fully vaccinated. The vaccination skepticism in Canada seems to be lower than in the USA, for example. Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the opening of the border last week in view of the progress made.
