Can’t manage 10,000 steps a day? You can replace them by climbing this number of steps

An American study has proven that it is much simpler and quicker to maintain your physical and heart shape than to take 10,000 steps a day. Here is their tip.

The recommended 10,000 steps per day isn’t so easy to achieve, for some. Even more so when you have a sedentary job, whether you work from home or otherwise. An American source, cited by Top Santé, demonstrated that faster exercise would allow you to maintain your physical fitness just as much and cardiac. Even those who work from home should be able to achieve this.

The study, carried out over 10 years among 400,000 British people, explains the fact that go up 5 floors on foot would be equivalent to 10,000 steps per day. This would allow your heart to be preserved more quickly. This does not mean that many prefer to take the elevator or the escalator: this exercise is very cardio, and would therefore be very effective. Stair machines in sports halls are also very successful.

What are the benefits of this tip?

Professor Lu Qi, from Tulane University (USA), lead author of the study, explained about this exercise : “Short high-intensity stair climbs are an effective way to improve cardiorespiratory fitness and lipid profile, particularly in people unable to meet current physical activity recommendations. The results of our study highlight in evidence the potential benefits of stair climbing as a preventive measure for atherosclerosis”, did he declare.

According to this same study, people who climb these 5 floors on foot per day, are 3% less likely to suffer from atherosclerosis compared to people who do not climb these 5 floors. The risk decreases by 16% for those who ride them between 6 and 10 times a day. Something to think about before taking the escalator or elevator.
