Carbios doubles its number of patents granted in two years on its proprietary technologies – 03/01/2023 at 06:45

Carbios (Euronext Growth Paris: ALCRB), a pioneer in the development and industrialization of biological technologies to reinvent the life cycle of plastics and textiles, has doubled the number of its patents issued since its last report at the end of 2020.

Carbios (either directly or through its subsidiary Carbiolice) currently holds 336 titles worldwide, constituting 53 patent families. In 2022, several issuances of titles protecting proprietary enzymes degrading PET took place in countries of interest such as the United States and also in Asian countries including Indonesia, South Korea, China, Japan and India. Carbios has also obtained grants within its patent families protecting the process for producing biodegradable plastics, in particular for the masterbatch containing the enzyme or its process for obtaining it.

“For the past two years, we have essentially strengthened our protection for our PET biorecycling process and the associated proprietary enzymes,” says Lise LUCCHESI, Director of Intellectual Property at Carbios. “For the years to come, we will continue to consolidate the protection of this process but also that of the PLA biodegradation process by filing new patent applications. We are also pursuing the procedures for granting our patent applications already filed in order to achieve granted patents. »
