Sunday 19 December 2020, Carla Bruni confided in the columns of the Italian magazine Io Donna on her role as a mother but also on her relationship with her little Giulia, aged nine, born from her alliance with Nicolas Sarkozy. The one who has just celebrated her fifty-third birthday has also mentioned the departure of her first child, Aurélien Enthoven, who recently left the family home. Independent, free and an artist at heart, Carla Bruni does not claim to be the perfect mother for her children … quite the contrary! In all transparency, the former Italian model revealed the little odds that she made on a daily basis and that we forgive her gladly!

"In the morning, I am no longer this fantastic mom …"

Despite a volatile temperament, her children have always been her priority: "I like my husband especially for my independence, my freedom … But our children come above all!", she told the Italian magazine. However, she does not intend to give up her little daily pleasures: "It goes without saying that in the morning, I am no longer this fantastic mother … I prepare breakfast and go back to bed! ", she laughs, before explaining that the independence of her children is just as essential: "When parents mainly take care of their children – something essential for the balance of the human being – they invade their tastes, their opinions a bit. The child becomes a kind of revenge. I see parents who pour out on their children what they did not do. Mine live their own life: their existence is important, not ours ", says Carla Bruni.

If little Giulia plunges her back into the joys of motherhood, Carla Bruni had to face, at the same time, the departure of her big boy. A mother's pain that she evokes in The empty room, a song melancholy from his new album: "We know that certain things are going to happen but in fact, we realize it in a moment which escapes us. I knew this moment was coming (…) but suddenly I felt it in a fatalistic way ", she explained on RFM last October.
