Carrefour and Casino join forces with a start-up to launch home delivery

Don’t feel like going shopping? Are you hurt? Unable to move around? Why not use a delivery service? In France, many supermarkets already offer this service through their staff, but the cost can sometimes be high. This is why personal service can sometimes be the right solution. This is the market that several large retail giants are planning to conquer, starting with Carrefour and Casino.

The two groups have just signed a partnership with the Italian start-up Everli, reveals Le Figaro. Everli operates on the model of Instacart in the United States, whose employees act as intermediaries between the customer and the supermarket. If Carrefour and Casino have joined forces with Everli, it is because the start-up has already been established in France for a few months, mainly in large provincial cities such as Lyon, Bordeaux, Nice, Toulouse, Nantes, Montpellier, Strasbourg, etc. . It should also arrive in Paris.

An intermediary role

Its model is simple, described Le Figaro : they are freelance employees who take care of shopping for the customer before delivering to their home. For this, they use their personal vehicle. Conversely, other players present in France, such as Cajoo or Flink, have small warehouses in cities and offer products negotiated with the food industry. On the other hand, as explained Le Figaro, their references are smaller, 2,000 on average. Their small warehouses rented at attractive prices allow them to deliver in less than fifteen minutes. For this period, the delivery costs 1.90 euros.

For Everli, the basket is higher, around 70 euros, a way for its CEO to differentiate itself and attract supermarkets which nevertheless have their own delivery service: “They want to multiply the sales channels”, specifies t it to our colleagues. By signing a partnership with them, Carrefour is the first to “connect” its stocks to its website. The advantage for the customer being to have the stock in real time, while Carrefour will pay a commission to Everli on each sale. A new string to its bow as the giant of mass distribution multiplies partnerships.
