Case of Leslie and Kevin: another suspect in the double murder also released: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

It was a tragedy that shocked the whole of France. : on the night of November 25 to 26, 2022, in Prahecq in Deux-Sèvres, two young adults, Leslie Hoorelbeke and Kevin Trompat, suddenly disappeared after an evening with friends. After having suspected a runaway for a while, the hypothesis is quickly swept away by the investigation, which refocuses on those around her. On March 3 and 4, 2023, after numerous searches and more than three months of investigations and searches, the bodies of the two partners were found, to the great dismay of the families. The evidence then suggests a brutal and savage assassination, with blows carried out using sharp objects. Subsequently, as the investigation progresses, five suspects are implicated in the case. Some, like Stevan M. or Enzo C., are then placed in pre-trial detention.

Enzo C. released, but still indicted

Tuesday March 5, 2024, one of them, Enzo.C, was released, although he still remains under judicial control. Information revealed by the regional daily The New Republic the same day, then confirmed by the suspect’s lawyer to BFMTV on March 6, 2024. A decision taken by the Poitiers appeals investigation chamber: the order for his continued pre-trial detention was in fact canceled, as his lawyer declared to AFP. A release does not mean, however, that Enzo C. is cleared of all suspicion: he is even, moreover, still indicted for murder, kidnapping, forcible confinement, and alteration of a crime scene.

This release of one of the main suspects echoes that of Stevan M., also released at the beginning of January 2024. The investigating judge in charge of the case had in fact made this decision after the charges for kidnapping and sequestration have been lifted. Suspected of having intervened twice at the crime scene, he is still indicted for concealment of corpses and modification of a crime scene. The motive for the double murder, still vague, between romantic disappointment and financial debt, requires clarification. A reconstitution should be organized in October or November 2024. For the moment, Enzo C. and Stevan M. remain presumed innocent of the facts with which they are accused, as do the other suspects in this case.
