The former TV chef Horst Lichter has been running “Bares for Rares” since 2013. That’s what he says about saying goodbye to the popular junk show.

Horst Lichter celebrates his 60th birthday on January 15th. He became known as a television chef, but he hasn’t done that for a long time. Since 2013 he has hosted the popular ZDF junk show “Bares for Rares”. In an interview with “Bild am Sonntag” he gave us an indication of how long he would like to do it.

“Bares for Rares”: When does Horst Lichter stop?

“If I don’t feel like it anymore, I stop. But I already know one thing. I won’t be jumping around on television at the age of 70,” said Lichter to “Bild am Sonntag”. In an interview, he also revealed his plans for the future. “I have my dream of a farm where I want to clean the gutters,” says Horst Lichter. Why does he want to do it himself? Because he is obviously used to it and likes it. “My wife Nada and I have never had a cleaning lady or anyone who has worked for us. And it stays that way. Not because we don’t allow anyone else to earn money with us, but because I notice that I am live, “he explains.

How much he loves his Nada is made clear by Lichters: “Actually I should have got to know her directly. Then it would have been a marriage, and not three. It would have been a shame because then I would not have my wonderful children”.

“If I die today that would be fine”

After these tough and honest, but also loving words, the popular TV face gets serious again. When asked what happiness would mean for him, he replied: “I’ll give an answer that sounds violent at first glance. If I had to die today, that would be fine. That doesn’t mean I’m tired of life. Me I would love to do a lot. But I have already been able to experience so much and have received so much more than I could have ever dreamed of. I laughed, suffered, cried, loved so much. I had great children who gave me grandchildren I’d rather be grateful for what I had than be angry for what I was missing out on. “

The new film by the TV star shows once again how down-to-earth and with himself he is. “No Time for Assholes” (January 9th, 8:15 pm, on ZDF) is based on Lichter’s autobiography. But not himself, but actor Oliver Stokowski, 59, plays him. Why did Horst Lichter not slip into the role? “The whole film would no longer be believable. Acting is a learned profession. I can do nonsense, but not act,” said Lichter.
