Cash for Rares: Start of shooting for the prime time shows, but with restrictions

Will the prime time specials of the hit show "Bares for Rares" be canceled given the corona pandemic this year? In contrast to the recordings for the daily broadcast in the studio in Pulheim, viewers are always present with these specials.

But fans can breathe a sigh of relief. "Two editions of the evening shows 'Bares for Rares' will be recorded at Drachenburg Castle in June," explains ZDF spokesman Stefan Unglaube when asked by the spot on news news agency. However, there are also restrictions for the recordings: Due to the current situation, "without an on-site audience and without extras" is being shot. In addition, there will only be six instead of seven dealers "to be able to keep the distances at the dealer's table," it continues.

A real success story

On May 15, the 1000th episode of the popular junk show with host Horst Lichter (58) was on TV. He led the show for the first time on August 4, 2013; at that time only once a week. Not a year later, the format was broadcast every working day. This four-week test balloon showed that the audience's fascination with junk treasures seems to be endless. Since the end of 2015, "Bares for Rares" has been running every Monday through Friday. Primetime evening shows have been produced since 2017.
