The tiara sparkles, the Princess of Wales steals: Catherine once again does everything right at the state banquet for the South Korean president and shines in a white cape dress. In addition to the dress, it is her headdress that is particularly causing a stir.

Catherine has state banquets, Princess of Wales, 41, has already completed a few – but she hasn’t always caused as much conversation as she does now. On Tuesday, King Charles III, 75, hosted a lavish dinner at Buckingham Palace for South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, 62, who is on a state visit to Britain. However, the focus is actually on someone completely different: Kate. She not only enchants with her dress, but also with her tiara. This is a pretty rare sight and a first for her.

Kate provides an element of surprise with the “Strathmore Rose Tiara”.

The question of which tiara Catherine will choose for this reception has been hotly debated among bookmakers in recent days. Will it be the “Lover’s Knot Tiara” or Kate’s wedding “Halo Tiara” from Cartier? As we have known since Tuesday evening – neither of them. The 41-year-old chose a rarely worn piece from the royal jewelry box for the state banquet in honor of Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife Kim Keon Hee, 51. The so-called “Strathmore Rose Tiara” sparkled in her dark hair.

Do not you know? No wonder, as the piece of jewelry was last seen on the Queen Mum’s head in the 1930s. The tiara was a wedding gift given to the Queen Mother Elizabeth by her father, Lord Strathmore, before she married the future King George VI in 1923. married. The diamond flower crown, designed to look like a garland of wild roses, was originally purchased from London-based jeweler Catchpole & Williams and can be worn either on the head or cut into five individual brooches. Kate is said to be only the second person to ever wear the tiara.

Catherine opts for a white cape dress: is this her favorite design for state banquets?

But it’s not just the spectacular tiara, which reflects the “naturalistic style of headdress that was popular from the mid-19th century onwards”, that creates true glamor in London. Kate’s white dress with mini cape is also a real regalia this evening! The mother of three attended the gala evening in a flowing dress by Jenny Packham and with this look was reminiscent of her first state banquet as Princess of Wales almost exactly a year ago.

Similar to the “Elspeth” model, the “Anemone” model that she chose this year impresses with flowing fabric and a cape over the shoulders. The only difference: This year it is significantly shorter and only reaches her elbows. She also combines long white gloves, which give the glamor look another extravagant touch.

Well, that sounds familiar! At the state banquet for the President of South Africa, Kate wore a very similar dress by Jenny Packham in 2022.

Jewelery from Queen Elizabeth completes the gala outfit

Of course, Kate’s other pieces of jewelry also deserve special attention. She relies on large diamond-shaped drop earrings set with diamonds and once Queen Elizabeth II, †96, belonged. What a sweet tribute. Who doesn’t remain the only one. Kate’s choice to wear exclusively white this evening is no coincidence. In conjunction with other guests such as Queen Camilla, 76, and Princess Anne, 73, she symbolizes the national colors of South Korea. Medals and sash complete the typical state banquet look.
