Cause clarified – a defective neon tube triggered an inferno on the farm

The investigations into the major fire in East Tyrol’s Tristach, in which – as reported – a farm building was destroyed, are now complete. As the police announced on Thursday, a defective neon tube in the boiler room led to the sea of flames.

The fire broke out on Tuesday shortly before 10 p.m. Until the emergency services arrived, the residents had tried to extinguish the flames. In vain! Only 231 Florianijüngern with 31 vehicles from a total of nine fire departments from the town and the surrounding area managed to tame the fire.

Humans and animals were unharmed
Both the residents and the animals from the farm next door got away with the shock and were unharmed. As the police announced on Thursday, “based on the investigation of the cause of the fire, it can be assumed that the fire was most likely triggered by a defective neon tube in the area of the boiler room”.

The property damage cannot yet be quantified.
