CD Projekt: The new The Witcher is in pre-production, half of the studio is working on the extension of Cyberpunk 2077

CD Project Red now regularly shares its progress on its various projects. We now know that the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 will not arrive before the last quarter of 2022, and that the extension of Cyberpunk 2077 is not expected before 2023. The studio today gives news regarding the distribution of its teams, while indicating that the new game The Witcher just passed a very important step.

Projects are progressing well

In its latest report to date, CD Projekt Red gives us a better idea of the studio’s current concerns, via a graph that shows how employees are distributed on each project.

We can thus see that half of CD Projekt Red is now working on the expansion of Cyberpunk 2077and that only a very small group is working on game support for future more minor updates. We should learn more about this extension in the second half of 2022.

The other interesting detail of this report is the increase in the size of the team on the next game The Witcher. And that’s quite normal, because according to Adam Kiciński, boss of CD Projekt Red, the research phase around this episode is over, and the game has now entered the pre-production phase. This phase can of course last for years, but at least the project is progressing and the ideas about it are already more or less settled.
