The investigation into the 9,000 illegal Covid 19 certificates is getting off to a great start. According to the St. Gallen public prosecutor’s office, it is assumed that no significant additional number of illegal certificates will appear, but the search continues. The material from the house searches is being evaluated.
It is already clear that at least some of those arrested worked in administration – as part-time employees. They have no medical training, worked at check-in and in the background in the office. The public prosecutor’s office confirmed this on request.
The qualification can also be inferred from job advertisements from test centers that have since been deleted: A completed commercial apprenticeship is sufficient – or: “Alternatively, you have already gained experience at another test center”.
Internal investigation at recruitment agency
At Blick’s request, a large employment agency in the health sector confirmed that some of those arrested were placed by the company. “We have opened an internal investigation,” says the spokeswoman. She was not allowed to say more: “We received the order from the canton, any results are only communicated by the investigative authorities.”
What else comes to light in the huge certificate fraud is unclear. As the public prosecutor writes, the evaluation of the confiscated data carriers will take a long time. Five public prosecutors and a special commission of the canton police made up of 10 employees are investigating at full speed.
