Gigabyte will no longer be the only one in 2022 to offer gaming screens
OLED on large formats. We will not only have to rely on ASUS and its ROG Swift OLED, but also on Acer which has just unveiled its Predator CG48!

Beside that, the brand lifted the veil on two other monitors, 32-inch references that use a Mini-LED backlight.

Predator CG48: OLED yes, but it goes up to 138 Hz!

6 small Hertz less than the famous refresh rate of 144 Hz present on a large majority of gaming monitors. This is what Acer offers, not on a “classic” monitor, but on a 48-inch OLED panel. An original bid to try to gain in fluidity, even if one wonders under what conditions it will be possible to take advantage of this refresh rate of 138 Hz.

This giant monitor features a design that makes it more like a TV, just like the AORUS FO48U that we recently tested. It will have HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 ports, four USB 3.2 ports as well as a USB-C capable of powering a laptop up to 65 W.

Acer announces it is fully compatible with AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro and mentions a response time of 0.1 ms, a very low value thanks to the OLED. It will also support HDR10 and display 98% of DCI-P3 space. On the other hand, we will have to be patient, which allows time to save some money. Indeed, the Predator Acer CG48 will not be available before the third quarter of 2022, at a price of 2 199 euros.

Predator X32 and X32 FP: two Mini-LEDs cut for HDR

The Predator X32 and X32 FP will already be (a little) more accessible, with a price set at 1,899 euros all the same for the first, and 1,599 euros for the second. The X32 and X32FP are Mini-LED screens that claim 576 dimming zones.

They will be capable of a light peak greater than 1200 nits and are also VESA Display HDR 1000 certified. The differences between these two monitors are not very clear at the moment, they both seem to benefit from the same IPS panel, but the X32 FP has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports, whereas the X32 only has 3 HDMI 2.0 ports. Another difference, G-Sync Ultimate is supported via DisplayPort for the X32. Power via USB-C of up to 90W is also found on the X32 FP. The refresh rate is fixed at 160 Hz for the X32 and 165 Hz for the X32 FP.
