AMD intends to hit hard at CES 2022 in Las Vegas. The CTO (technical director) of the Californian firm has confirmed that it will unveil its next processors with the Zen 4 architecture. But do not wait for a full presentation.
CES 2022 is just around the corner. The Las Vegas show will be held in a hybrid format (COVID requires) from January 5 to 8, in a little less than two weeks. The day before, AMD will hold a virtual conference and its CTO, Mark Papermaster, promises heavy, very heavy.
In an interview with Forbes, Papermaster spoke about the presentation of the brand’s next generation of CPUs, based on the Zen 4 architecture. Processors which, according to all logic, should be engraved in 5 nm and should bring a significant gain performance. Details will thus be given at the CES conference.
AMD will give a preview of its new CPUs, but no more
However, it will not be not a complete presentation of the new Ryzen, warns Papermaster, but simply a “glimpse” of what lies ahead. The release should indeed arrive later in the year:
“I am thinking of the CES in January. We can’t wait to reveal some details about our new products that will deliver phenomenal experiences and we’ve said it: we’ll be covering details about Zen 4 later this year with some reveal at CES. It’s going to be a very exciting year for AMD. ”
So we can’t wait to see that. As a reminder, the previous generation of Ryzen processors (5000) was released in November 2020. January 2021 is so a little early for a launch. Mark Papermaster also talks about the shortages that affect all sectors of tech. He affirms that AMD is working hard to improve production lines and thus drastically reduce manufacturing times for 2022. An optimistic forecast, since its competitor Intel sees the shortage lasting several more years.

This year’s CES should be special. Once a tech flagship event, it has been completely reduced to heartache in 2021 due to COVID. This 2022 edition should try to reconnect with the tradition with a hybrid format, but the Omicron variant comes to play the spoiler. Many manufacturers cancel their visit at the last minute.
