Intel took advantage of CES 2022 to unveil the new characteristics of its Evo badge, a guarantee of a certain quality and the presence of the most recent technologies for laptops.
During the CES (Consumer Electronics Show), which was once again held at a distance this year, Intel made more announcements about its 12-inch processors.e generation. Logically, its Evo standard takes these changes into account, its 3e edition taking advantage of some new features. As a reminder, a laptop PC stamped Evo guarantees a certain number of high-end characteristics, namely:
- An Intel Core processor of 11e generation
- Wifi 6
- A minimum autonomy of 9 hours
- One Thunderbolt 4 port
- A screen with thin borders
- A quick wake-up call
12th gen. and super fast connectivity
Intel is therefore evolving all this to ensure good performance with its 12e generation of processors and 6E wifi connectivity, faster than simple wifi 6. The manufacturer also wants to integrate its Connectivity Performance Suite, a tool responsible for optimizing and managing bandwidth according to the applications in use.
Emphasis on videoconferencing
Pandemic forces, the generalization of teleworking reminded manufacturers of the need to offer high-performance videoconferencing tools. Intel understood it well: to benefit from its Evo badge, the PC must now have a Full HD webcam (minimum) and ambient noise reduction technology.
H-Series processors land for creators
More efficient and energy-consuming, the Intel H series processors join in the dance, provided they validate all these recommendations and offer a thermal envelope (TDP) between 35 and 45 W.
Intel wants to attract multimedia creation enthusiasts with PCs with 15 or 16 inch screens “designer-oriented”. It remains to know their characteristics … We can consider a Delta E less than 2, a certain level of contrast and brightness, or even a wide coverage of the RGB space for example.
These computers will also have to carry a dedicated Intel Arc graphics card, expected in 2022. This prerequisite obviously aims to push OEMs to source from Intel, but this risks being a double-edged sword: if the performance of Arc GPUs is not up to par. appointment, they will not be able to turn to Evo certified PCs equipped with Nvidia GeForce cards.
An Evo standard for foldable screens
