CES 2022 – Plants by the dozen thanks to Multo, the XXL indoor vegetable garden from Prêt à Pousser

The French start-up Prêt à Pousser at CES Las Vegas is a first! For the occasion, she presents Multo, her large-format indoor vegetable garden. Nurturing, the mastodon can accommodate up to 72 plants.

Like its predecessors, Multo allows you to grow indoor plants – aromatic herbs, flowers, mini-vegetables – without necessarily having a green thumb. With connected lighting and controlled watering, the Prêt à Pousser indoor vegetable gardens pamper our plants.

The Multo vegetable garden plays in the big leagues. If the previous models of the French start-up had accustomed us to four plants maximum, Multo can accommodate … 72! Indeed, it is possible to install three levels of 24 plants each. Modular at will, it is up to the user to adapt it to their needs. Multo has a nursery, that is to say an area reserved for the development of young shoots. The lights all have 280 low-consumption LEDs to illuminate the plants, summer and winter. Finally, each container has a capacity of 6.4 liters, which gives the vegetable garden two weeks of autonomy.

Multo differs from the pleasure vegetable garden we already know and looks more like a nourishing vegetable garden, albeit limited. This product responds as closely as possible to the desire of the French: in 2021, 65% of them said they wanted to own their own vegetable garden, according to an OpinionWay survey.

This “kitchen garden furniture” is therefore atypical in terms of its size, but also because of the so-called “tidal” hydroponic technology that it incorporates. This system is based on watering cycles alternating between dry and wet periods. Concretely, the water level rises in the tank to immerse the roots of the plants, then goes down again to leave them dry – which is why we speak of “tide”. As a result, the water does not stagnate at the bottom of the tank, the air is renewed, the roots better oxygenated, which allows better development of the plants.
Combined with a new range of liquid nutrients, this technology would make it possible to obtain a yield 200% higher than that of a traditional indoor vegetable garden.

Provided they have the necessary space to install this XXL vegetable garden, budding gardeners now have all the tools to cultivate part of the content of their plate themselves. Multo will go on sale next spring, at an introductory price not yet indicated.
