CES 2022: Razer unveils an extraordinary gaming desktop concept

For CES 2022, Razer is obviously on hand to present some products. In this case, a concept of gaming desktop quite … out of the ordinary.

It is a notion that we often forget: the office itself is very important for the well-being of the player. But this time, Razer is offering something entirely different. The manufacturer in fact unveils Project Sophia which is presented by the company as being “the first real concept of desktop gaming in the world”. Just that.

A simple office? No answer Razer

This is what Razer announces about it:

The Razer Project Sophia is our futuristic take on a versatile gaming and workstation setup that meets very different needs. Project Sophia eliminates the need to move between workspaces. The system is instantly scalable, allowing users to quickly reconfigure their desktops with near-endless flexibility, tailoring Project Sophia not only to the task at hand, but also to the user’s particular preferences.

In other words, it’s an ultra-modular desktop-PC that is capable of supporting 13 separate modules for full customization. Secondary screen, audio mixer, capture card, everything is available to have the majority of tools at hand. The video above will give you a good idea of what Razer thinks of it.

A PC in the office or an office in the PC?

It is a so-called “intelligent” desktop in the sense that it is made up of electronic equipment, in particular an Intel chip and a latest generation Nvidia GPU. Everything is equipped with a new generation OLED screen that features self-illuminated pixels. The set can become in seconds a streaming station or a desktop for more classic gamers.

For the moment it is only a project, and we do not even know if prototypes exist at Razer, but the idea remains very nice. So don’t expect a price or a release date anytime soon.
