CES 2022 – Ring announces glass breakage detector to complement its Ring Alarm system

While Arlo took advantage of CES to unveil its first security system, Ring retaliates with the announcement of a new accessory to complement its own. The Glass Break Sensor works with the Ring Alarm system and takes the form of a small round case. Visibly battery-operated, its mission is to detect attempted break-ins on windows and glass doors.

To do this, Ring’s Glassbreak Sensor relies on a microphone and trained artificial intelligence to recognize the noise caused by such an intrusion. It does not require direct contact with a door or window to operate, unlike an opening sensor. According to Ring, he can also recognize the sound of broken glass within a radius of 7.6 m, and therefore “monitor” several doors and windows at the same time.

Since it works with the Ring Alarm system, the Glass breakage sensor can of course interact with the other elements that compose it and trigger the siren of the base in order to deter intruders. The user is obviously alerted on his smartphone.

The new Ring sensor will be available from February 16, 2022 at a suggested retail price of € 45.
