During CES 2022, Technics, a subsidiary of the Panasonic group, presented a brand new nomadic headset with active noise reduction: the EAH-A800. Top-notch sound performance, noise reduction and hands-free kit are just some of the promises.

Three months after the launch of two headphone models true wireless, Technics is taking advantage of CES to present the EAH-A800, a top-of-the-range active noise reduction Bluetooth nomad headset, which intends to nibble a market share from the Sony WH-1000XM4 and Bose Headphones 700, current leaders in the segment.
To stand out from the competition, Technics has put the package on voice capture and noise reduction by integrating no less than eight microphones in the headphones. While current products struggle to properly reduce wind noise, Technics says it has optimized its microphones and developed a special design inside the ear cups to overcome the inconvenience created by drafts and limit air vibrations. .

Always with Sony and Bose in the viewfinder, Technics prides itself on having integrated “The most advanced noise reduction in the industry”. A very presumptuous statement that we will not fail to verify when we test the product. To achieve such a level of performance, the EAH-A800 is equipped with a dual microphone system: one directed outward to reduce surrounding noise and the other inward to eliminate residual noise. An ambient sound mode is also part of the game to stay aware of your surroundings.
The promises about acoustic performance are also high. Technics says it is relying on its decades of experience in the hi-fi world to offer its headphones “Clear sound and deep bass with minimal distortion”. It proudly sports its Hi-Res medal and is compatible with the LDAC Bluetooth codec promising increased bandwidth.

However, the EAH-A800 does not present anything very innovative in terms of its design. The controls are carried out using buttons placed on the edges of the ear cups, as well as with a touch sensor slipped under one of them. The headphones can also be controlled through the Technics Audio app (Android and iOS). There will be an equalizer, as well as various parameters and information such as the remaining charge level. In this regard, a more than generous autonomy of 50 hours is promised, which would make it one of the most enduring helmets in its category.
