In order to properly capture the Wi-Fi signal, routers are often covered with antennas. Those of TP-Link, like Archer AX11000
, are no exception to this fashion. However, manually orienting six, seven or even eight antennas can quickly become tedious. A chore from which the Archer AXE200 Omni, the brand’s first router equipped with mechanically rotating antennas, saves you.
This router is armed with four antennas that deploy and rotate automatically to seek the best possible signal.
A router whose antennas move on their own
The company explains the concept as follows: “ The mechanically rotating antennas of the Archer AXE200 Omni are innovative. Usually, you have to manually adjust the antenna orientation to change the receiving area of the Wi-Fi signal, but with mechanical antennas, this process will be done automatically by the router or the app. This system was designed to improve the user experience by expanding the possibilities of connection within the home network. “
It is always a good thing to take, even if, with its four antennas, this Archer AXE200 Omni is not the most exuberant model on the market. Either way, its mechanically rotating antennas earned it a CES 2022 Innovation Awards winner. Unfortunately, for now, the TP-Link YouTube channel does not offer any videos showing these famous mechanically rotating antennas in action.
Six Ethernet ports: one 10 Gbps, one 2.5 Gbps, and four 1 Gbps
For the rest, the Archer AXE200 Omni is a 6E AXE11000 tri-band Wi-Fi router that offers a total speed of 11 Gbits / s: 4,804 Mbits / s (6 GHz) + 4,804 Mbits / s (5 GHz) + 1148 Mbits / s (2.4 GHz).
TP-Link has equipped it with a fair amount of wired ports, six in all. The router has a 10 Gb / s WAN / LAN port, another 2.5 Gb / s port and four GbE (1 Gbit / s) ports. The press release does not specify the rest of the connection, in particular the USB.
Like other routers from TP-Link, this model benefits from antivirus and parental control features through HomeShield. It also supports the EasyMesh Wi-Fi standard. The price will be announced later. The launch is scheduled for the second quarter of 2022.
