CES 2024 – Ecovacs offers its Deebot X2 in a Combo version and adds a hand vacuum cleaner

Although they continue to improve, robot vacuum cleaners still struggle to reach certain areas of the home. The manual vacuum cleaner therefore still has a bright future ahead of it; and even if you have both, why not combine them to save space? Vorwerk has already done this with its Dream Team Kobold and Ecovacs is now following suit with the Deebot X2 Combo.

A bonus hand vacuum

Presented as part of CES 2024, the Deebot X2 Combo is not completely new. Rather, it is a new version of the Deebot X2 Omni that we have already tested. The robot is identical, but its station extends to accommodate a hand vacuum cleaner, a first for Ecovacs.

If the manufacturer does not give any power indicator, we do know that a HEPA filter is designed to retain fine particles, while six cyclones are responsible for separating the air from the dust in order to preserve suction performance. A set of four brushes is also provided to vacuum the house from floor to ceiling, including a mini motorized brush and a larger one, also motorized and equipped with a suction tube to switch to broom mode. The tube + floor brush assembly must be purchased separately.

Once the dirt has been vacuumed up, simply place the hand vacuum cleaner back on the station, which then empties its collector. The automatic emptying of the robot of course remains relevant, as does the automatic washing of its mops and the filling of the water tank.

Remember that the Deebot X2 can both vacuum and wash the floor. It is also equipped with numerous sensors, but also a camera to navigate around the house and avoid obstacles, even if it disappointed us a little on this point during our test. The new Combo version in any case has the merit of offering a backup solution when the robot forgets corners or simply dirt, and can therefore constitute an interesting solution for those who are not already equipped with a broom or a sled .

Ecovacs adds that the X2 Combo will be its first robot natively compatible with Matter 1.2, but does not yet indicate a price or release date. We will be sure to update this article as soon as we know more.
