CES 2024: LG increases the brightness on its new Oled B4, C4, G4 and M4 TVs

CES in Las Vegas will begin in a few days, but LG has taken the lead by announcing numerous products over the past two weeks, including its future Cinebeam video projector, a 32-inch 4K Oled Dual Hz monitor, LCD televisions and even a small robot. Today, it’s the turn of its Oled TV range to reveal its new features for 2024. We take stock.

The M4 and G4 for a premium experience

The top of the range is carried by an M4 offering a remote case, similar to what Samsung offers with its S95C. LG, however, goes further, with a completely wireless box. A technological feat which was associated with large panels on last year’s M3, and which had a price: €7,000 for the 77-inch, €10,000 for the 83-inch and… €30,000 for the 97-inch model .

With the M4, LG is adding a more reasonable model in size, with a diagonal of 65 inches. However, we do not yet know its price, which should be around €5,000. The brand’s other flagship model, the G4, will logically replace the excellent G3 in the diagonals we know, from 55 to 97 inches. As a reminder, this model intended to be hung on the wall also has a remote box, but wired.

LG promises a higher peak light on these two high-end televisions, the manufacturer having mentioned a 70% increase in brightness (except on the 97-inch models), again thanks to the MLA (Micro Lens Array) filter made up of billions of microlenses. However, we are waiting to know a little more, the figures mentioned are sometimes quite vague (LG speaking in particular of a brightness 150% higher than the B4, which is clearly not telling). The M4 and G4 will benefit from an alpha 11 processor which promises to be efficient, with a greater number of cores dedicated to AI calculations. However, we will spare you the battles with numbers, which are not necessarily very telling. On the program, we can count on a range of technologies aimed at improving the viewing experience, with more precise colors, better management of small, very bright objects in HDR, and better upscaling of HD and full HD content in particular.

Good news, the panels will be guaranteed for 5 years by the manufacturer and are now G-Sync certified, while being able to increase to a frequency of 144 Hz, a nice little gain for gamers who connect their PC to their TV. Another exciting new feature, LG webOS’s in-house operating system is in version 24 and will be updated for 5 years, allowing you to benefit from the latest interface developments for longer.

LG B4 and C4 for Oled at a good price

The B4 and C4, which offer better value for money, will also benefit from longer updates, the 144 Hz refresh rate and G-Sync compatibility, but not the α11 processor. We will have to count on the α9 of 2023 for the C4 and the α8 for the B4, even if we can still hope for an overall increase in brightness. It will undoubtedly be light, but we will of course check all of this during our tests.

Until then, we will give you all the information we can obtain during CES, including availability dates and prices for this new range of televisions.
