Faithful allies of our hairless cheeks, electric razors are often rather imposing devices which must fit well in the hand so that the user does not risk dropping them. It therefore takes a lot of materials to make them and, what doesn’t help matters, it is plastic, from the petrochemical industry, which is popular. The Japanese Panasonic has therefore completely revised the shape of the shaver to reduce it to its simplest expression with the Palm Shaver ES-PV6A. The photos speak for themselves: the handle seems to have disappeared and it is directly the head that the user manipulates.

And yet Marie, our special correspondent in Las Vegas, doesn’t have big hands!

Obviously, this particular form requires much less raw materials. But the manufacturer did not stop at this simple reduction in size since the Palm Shaver ES-PV6A is not made of conventional plastic, but of Nagori, a material derived from marine minerals. According to Panasonic, the reduced size of the Palm Shaver ES-PV6A and the use of Nagori reduce the use of plastic by around 40% compared to a conventional shaver.

The small size of the Palm Shaver also allows it to be better integrated into the bathroom decoration.

In addition, to further reduce the environmental impact of the Palm Shaver ES-PV6A, Panasonic says (finally!) goodbye to its proprietary charger, this object destined to clutter our cupboards or landfills at the end of the device’s life. . In fact, this new shaver now charges using a simple USB-C cable that each of us already has.

And although the Palm Shaver ES-PV6A makes huge concessions on its size and is made of more environmentally friendly materials, it still remains a technically very solid electric shaver. Indeed, it is equipped with the five-blade cutting head that we find in particular on the ES-LV67 and whose sharpness impressed us. Note that Panasonic has also equipped its Palm Shaver with sensors so that this famous head perfectly follows the contours of the user’s face.

Despite its compact side, the ES-PV6A has everything of a big one.

For now, the Palm Shaver ES-PV6A is available in white or black in Japan and it should arrive in September 2024 in the United States before, we hope, arriving in Europe. Its price remains unknown, but if we rely on the prices charged here and there, it should be around €350 or €400, which, let’s admit it, is not really cheap.
