CES 2024 – Xtreme 4, Clip 5, Go 4: JBL stocks up on portable Bluetooth speakers

GB 4

After an IFA focused on the new range of Authentics speakers, JBL is refocusing on its favorite market by announcing the release of three new portable Bluetooth speakers: Xtreme 4, Clip 5 and Go 4.

All three waterproof, they introduce the Auracast functionality, introduced in the Bluetooth 5.3 standard, which allows the same stream to be shared with several sources. Here, Auracast’s mission will be to replace the old PartyBoost protocol which allows you to pair several speakers together and thus obtain a stereo pair or a system made up of an infinite number of speakers. Unlike PartyBoost, Auracast has the merit of not being proprietary. It may therefore be possible in the future to pair JBL speakers with Bose, Sony or Marshall speakers for example.

Less imposing than its big sister Boombox, the Xtreme 4 remains a powerful portable speaker and remains easily transportable thanks to its strap. The speaker has received a small makeover, particularly at the level of its foot which is much more protruding than before. However, the ADM remains the same with 4 speakers supported by two passive radiators, like the Xtreme 3.

The Xtreme 4 benefits from a new sound mode, called AI Sound Boost (still artificial intelligence and yes!), which would be able to boost the sound power of the machine without distorting the sound reproduction. The Xtreme 4 promises 24 hours of battery life, more than 9 hours more than the Xtreme 3! This battery would also be easily replaceable by the user, a good point for the planet.

The Xtreme 4 will be released next March at a price of €349.99. It will be available in Blue, Camo and Black colors.

Very slight aesthetic changes have been made to the Clip 5. Its corners have been more rounded and the carabiner has been revisited with a larger opening. JBL promises sound improvements with more homogeneous rendering and clean bass reproduction, even at high volume. The autonomy is announced here at 12 hours, 2 hours more than for the Clip 4.

The Clip 5 is announced for next May for a price of €69.99 and will be available in Camo, Red, Purple, Grey, Blue and Black colors.

The Go 4 has also undergone a small facelift but nothing major because it retains its soap brick size and therefore its compact format. However, its strap has been enlarged to make it easier to transport or hang. JBL announces that it has revised the internal speaker and thus promises more punchy bass and improved overall sound reproduction. Autonomy is announced for 7 hours compared to 5 hours previously.

The Go 4 will be released next April at a price of €49.99 and will be available in Camo, Red, Purple, Grey, Blue and Black colors.
