Own goal two minutes before the end is bowled out by FC Bayern

Very bitter: FC Bayern led for a long time in the decisive game in the queen’s league against Paris Saint-Germain, but shortly before the end Georgia Stanway unfortunately hit her own goal. This means that the Munich team will miss the quarter-finals of the Champions League – and the Bundesliga is doing worse than ever.
The FC Bayern Munich footballers were the last German team to be eliminated from the Champions League after a very bitter game against Paris Saint-Germain. Despite leading twice, the German champions couldn’t get past a 2-2 (1-0) draw in the final group game. This meant that the Munich team fell to third place in Group C behind Paris and Ajax Amsterdam and missed the quarter-finals. For the first time since the premier class replaced the UEFA Cup in 2009, no German team is in the top eight.
A goal by substitute Jovana Damnjanovic for FC Bayern in stoppage time (90th + 7 minutes) was disallowed due to offside. The Bayern women led twice with headers from Giulia Gwinn (36th minute) and Sydney Lohmann (75th). Tabitha Chawinga (73′) equalized for the first time. An own goal by vice world champion Georgia Stanway (88th) caused coach Alexander Straus’ team to fall to third place in Group C behind Ajax Amsterdam and Paris.

Eintracht Frankfurt has no chance of progressing before the last preliminary round matchday this Wednesday against FC Rosengard/Sweden. VfL Wolfsburg, which lost to FC Barcelona in the final last year, missed the group stage. The Munich team was unable to repeat their first-leg win against the French runners-up in front of 4,000 spectators on the Bayern campus. Ajax progressed with a 2-1 win against AS Roma.
The Bayern women pushed hard for the lead at the end of the first half. After a missed chance by Lea Schüller, a corner made it 1-0: Captain Glodis Viggosdottir headed it to Gwinn, who also headed into the net with an arc lamp. Goalkeeper Marla Grohs was unable to save after a return from Tuva Hansen that was too short to make it 1-1. However, Lohmann was there after a corner from Klara Bühl and made it 2-1 – before all hopes of the Munich team’s first title triumph in the premier class were dashed in a dramatic final phase.
