Châteaudun: a sexagenarian slaughters his wife after a request for divorce

A 66-year-old man was arrested and taken into police custody after having slaughtered his wife, at their home in Châteaudun (Eure-et-Loir), learned Le Figaro by the public prosecutor of Chartres, Rémi Coutin, confirming information from The Republican Echo . Unknown to the police and gendarmerie services, the author admitted the facts.

On Wednesday August 3, around 9:30 p.m., a man residing in a suburban area of ​​Châteaudun telephoned the gendarmes after hearing his neighbor call “help“. Arrived on the scene, the gendarmes rang the bell from which the cries came and fell on a man who immediately explained that he had killed his wife. Inside the pavilion, in the living room, the 64-year-old victim lies in a pool of blood. According to the first elements of the investigation, she would have received between six and eight stab wounds in the throat. His carotid was severed.

The victim reportedly announced his intention to divorce

According to the information provided to Figaro by the prosecutor, an argument would have broken out during dinner: the victim would have informed her husband of his intention to divorce after ten years of living together. The latter, who had already divorced from a previous union, would not have accepted the situation. The argument reportedly resumed after dinner. The man explainshave lost controland said he went to get a knife in the kitchen before stabbing his wife who was having herbal tea in the living room. The man, retired just like the victim, was not under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. He was not known for domestic violence and no report to justice had been made.
