Children's games for outside: the funniest ideas

The sun is shining … let's go with the little ones, out into nature to play and romp! No matter whether the park, garden, backyard or forest is used for this – there is always a place to play! Here we have summarized the funniest outdoor games for children.

Outdoor game on hot days: The water battle

A real treat, especially on warm days, which the grown-ups are sure to have fun with! Simply fill a few small balloons with water or cut the sponges into small strips, tie them together into pompoms and soak them in water. Of course, you can also prepare a couple of water pistols … and the battle can begin!

Throwing rifles

The perfect upcycling idea: clean tin cans thoroughly and, if you feel like it, paint them in bright colors. Then stack them in towers on a flat surface. Lay out a few balls – and the children can test their throwing skills.

Plumpsack – fun with action!

Rules of the game:

  • All children stand in a circle and look towards the center.
  • A child starts and holds a small bag or something similar in his hands.
  • While it goes around the circle, all the players sing the song: "The plop goes around, don't turn around. If you turn around or laugh, your hump becomes full." The song is repeated over and over again. During this time, the "Plumpsack" tries to put the sack behind one of the children, and to do so as inconspicuously as possible.
  • As soon as the respective child notices this, it quickly grabs the bag and runs after the player. During this time, the heavy bag must try to go around the circle once and get into the gap in the circle. If he succeeds, the catcher is now the new plopping bag. However, if the other player catches up with the flop bag, it must take over the role for another round.
  • If the other child did not even notice that the sack was behind him, the plopping sack taps the child on the back after an additional round and shouts: "One, two, three, into the rotten egg!" Now the child has to sit in the middle – until he is replaced by another child.

The game of skill: egg running on a grand scale

Egg run is one of the game ideas that are also great for children's birthdays! But the Sunday eggs don't necessarily have to serve for this – improvisation is called for here: the players grab whatever is available … garden shovel, snow shovel, table tennis ball, potato or ball. Then the course has to be determined. If you lose your egg, ball or potato, you have to go back to the start. Whoever finishes first wins!

Sack race: on your marks, get set, go!

This is where the children get moving: Find a few old cloth sacks (large jute sacks) and set a start and finish line. Now many children can compete against each other at the same time or individually. Now make sure that there is enough space so that the children do not jump in each other's way. After the start call it starts … Whoever reaches the finish line first wins.

Three-legged walk: coordination game

  • In the three-legged race, the children come together in pairs.
  • Then the neighboring legs are tied together above the ankle. Wide strips of fabric, Velcro tape or rope are suitable for this (make sure that the rope does not pose a risk of injury).
  • Now a start and end point of the running route is set and the pairs compete against each other. The pair that crosses the finish line first wins.

Balloon tennis

  • All you need for this game is a balloon and string.
  • Tension the string in the middle of a marked field and divide the children into two teams.
  • Now they play the balloon to each other. The goal is to keep the balloon in the air. If the ball falls to the ground on the opposite team, this team receives one penalty point.
  • Defines a certain period of time: which team then has the most penalty points loses.
  • tip: You can play the game with your hands or – and this is a little more difficult – hold the balloon in the air by blowing it.
