The Créteil public prosecutor’s office indicates that the 7-year-old boy found seriously injured while in the care of his babysitter in Choisy-le-Roi, in Val-de-Marne, died this Saturday, while he was in a coma. A 29-year-old man, presenting himself as his babysitter, was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention.

The 7-year-old boy found seriously injured while in the care of his babysitter in Choisy-le-Roi in Val-de-Marne on November 3, has died, the Créteil prosecutor’s office said on Saturday. ‘AFP, confirming information from RTL. The child died “today” (Saturday), said the prosecution, which added that it had “no other information” at this stage. He was in a coma until now.

A 29-year-old man, presenting himself as his babysitter, was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention on November 6 for attempted murder of a 15-year-old minor. The very young boy was found by local residents “between two cars”, “with his head stuck in a plastic bag” and showing “traces of blows and strangulation”, the prosecution then indicated.

The man claimed to have “hurt” the child

The suspect presented himself at the police station on November 3. He is unknown in the police files but had been implicated in proceedings opened in Paris on charges of sexual assault on a 15-year-old minor in June 2022. While in police custody, the man claimed to have “done harm” to the child. “In front of the police, the accused maintained his initial statements without explaining his actions further,” the prosecution further detailed on November 6.

The victim’s parents, who had confirmed to investigators that they had “regularly entrusted their child to the accused for three years, with complete confidence”, had called the emergency police on the evening of November 3 to report his disappearance. The investigation, still ongoing, has been entrusted to the Paris juvenile brigade.
