But as an accomplished half-marathoner and a woman of networks experienced behind the scenes of power, Christel Heydemann finally grilled all her competitors on the finish line, with the blessing of the State shareholder. This Friday, this former senior executive of Alcatel-Lucent, European boss of the Schneider Electric group, was appointed head of the French number 1 in telecoms after a board meeting. She will start on April 1 and will succeed Stéphane Richard after the dissociation of the functions of chairman and general manager that he combined. Sentenced in November in the Tapie-Crédit Lyonnais affair, the latter will remain chairman of the group until the spring and then leave his post, after a decade at the helm of the former France Telecom.
