A few days after his cardiac arrest, it was clear that the Danish soccer star Christian Eriksen needed a defibrillator.

A few days after his collapse during the European Championship game between Denmark and Finland, the Danish soccer star Christian Eriksen (29) is said to be given an ICD defibrillator. That gave the Danish Football Association in a statement on Twitter known. Accordingly, the device is necessary because cardiac arrhythmias led the 29-year-old to cardiac arrest. “Christian accepted the decision and the plan was also recommended by national and international experts”, Danish team doctor Morten Boesen is quoted as saying.

Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch during the European Championship game last Saturday (June 12) and had to be revived. Since then he has been in a hospital in Copenhagen, his condition is said to be “stable and good”. The soccer player has already reported personally via Instagram to speak. However, he cannot leave the hospital for the time being.

Does that mean the end of his professional career?

Using the ICD defibrillator does not have to mean the end of his professional career for Christian Eriksen. Numerous professional athletes were able to continue their careers with defibrillators, such as the Dutch EM player Daley Blind (31), who is considered a good friend of Eriksen.
