Christian Sievers arrived on the ZDF night. The former “Morgenmagazin” presenter is Claus Kleber’s successor in “heute journal”.

Christian Sievers (51) will be the new presenter in the ZDF “heute journal”. He succeeds Claus Kleber (66), who will guide the nightly news magazine for the last time after 18 years on December 30, 2021. Sievers will then celebrate its premiere in January 2022.

Sievers will alternate with “heute journal” presenter Marietta Slomka (52). He became known in the years 1997 to 2009 as the presenter of the “ZDF morning magazine”.

And Claus Kleber wouldn’t be Claus Kleber if he didn’t comment on this change. So he wrote shortly after the personnel became known on his Twitter account: “I’m happy. It couldn’t have gone better. … and Mitri Sirin replaces Christian Sievers

Sievers was last presenter on the main news program “heute” at 7 pm. He will have his last appearance in this role on September 30, 2021. His successor has also already been determined: Mitri Sirin will present the news for the first time on October 11, 2021.

“Mitri Sirin is an experienced colleague who has made a name for himself in the ‘ZDF Morgenmagazin’ over the past few years,” says Bettina Schausten, head of the ZDF main news department, enthusiastic about the personnel.
