He becomes Claus Kleber’s successor at “heute journal”

Christian Sievers arrived on the ZDF night. The former “Morgenmagazin” presenter is Claus Kleber’s successor in “heute journal”.
Christian Sievers (51) will be the new presenter in the ZDF “heute journal”. He succeeds Claus Kleber (66), who will guide the nightly news magazine for the last time after 18 years on December 30, 2021. Sievers will then celebrate its premiere in January 2022.
“Claus Kleber has been for 18 years [2003-2021] gave ‘heute journal’ a face and played a decisive role in keeping the show on course as the leading news magazine on German television, “summarizes ZDF editor-in-chief Dr. Peter Frey.” With Christian Sievers, he will be followed by a passionate correspondent, his own Always brings experience as a reporter to the moderation, “he continues.
Sievers will alternate with “heute journal” presenter Marietta Slomka (52). He became known in the years 1997 to 2009 as the presenter of the “ZDF morning magazine”.
And Claus Kleber wouldn’t be Claus Kleber if he didn’t comment on this change. So he wrote shortly after the personnel became known on his Twitter account: “I’m happy. It couldn’t have gone better. A real thoroughbred journalist and reporter and a really fine guy on top of that. ‘Heute journal’ keeps rocking. Congratulations, Christian Sievers”.
… and Mitri Sirin replaces Christian Sievers
Sievers was last presenter on the main news program “heute” at 7 pm. He will have his last appearance in this role on September 30, 2021. His successor has also already been determined: Mitri Sirin will present the news for the first time on October 11, 2021.
“Mitri Sirin is an experienced colleague who has made a name for himself in the ‘ZDF Morgenmagazin’ over the past few years,” says Bettina Schausten, head of the ZDF main news department, enthusiastic about the personnel. Sirin will “be the team with Jana Pareigis [40] and Barbara Hahlweg [52] complement perfectly “, she is sure.
