Singer and actress Christina Milian takes on the character of Naya Rivera, who died in 2020, in the series adaptation of "Step Up".

The series implementation for the film series "Step Up" reports a new addition: Christina Milian (39, "Girls United"). The actress and singer will take on the role of Colette, who was embodied in the first two seasons by Naya Rivera, who died in 2020. As before, Ne-Yo (41, "Closer") will star as Sage Odom, the legendary founder of the famous High Water Performing Art School in Atlanta, around whom the series revolves.

Milian announced in a first press release that she is very excited to be part of the "Step Up" family. "I know I have to follow in big footsteps. Naya was just amazing. In honor of Naya, her family, friends and fans, I want to deliver a great performance." Rapper Ne-Yo clarifies: "Naya cannot be replaced. Her spirit lives on in our memories and in every part of what this show is and will be." He is sure "that she will fill this figure with energy and light and win the hearts of Naya's fans as well as the rest of the world."

Filming began earlier this month in Atlanta. The series will be available on all platforms on STARZ from March 5th. Naya Rivera (1987-2020) was killed in a tragic boat accident in July last year.
