Ciaran and Domingos storms: 126,000 homes still without electricity

Some 126,000 homes were still without electricity on the western coast of France after the passage of storms Ciaran and Domingos, Enedis announced in press releases on the morning of Monday, November 6.

The electricity distribution network manager counted 93,000 households affected by storm Ciaran during the night from Wednesday to Thursday and 33,000 by storm Domingos between Saturday and Sunday remained “still to be replenished”.

Regarding storm Ciaran, Brittany is the region with the greatest number of homes without power since Thursday (81,000 homes), followed by Normandy (11,000). Charente-Maritime (16,000) and Gironde (9,000) are the two departments most affected by the Domingos storm, according to Enedis.

Following the passage of storm Ciaran, 1.2 million homes without electricity

Enedis specifies that it has mobilized 4,400 technicians, service providers and employees “came as reinforcements from other regions”in order to “complete as quickly as possible the last major repair projects carried out in difficult conditions”. One of its employees, aged around forty, died, electrocuted on Saturday evening during an intervention in Finistère.

Enedis’ previous update on storm Ciaran, published on Saturday evening, reported 176,000 customers without power. Initially, 1.2 million homes were plunged into darkness after the storm. Concerning Domingos, 50,000 were still there on Sunday evening.
