Last year, Citroën presented a pimped version of its Ami… At the start of 2022, the French brand has just increased the price of its Ami electric car. It goes to 7790 euros, instead of 7390 euros. The cheapest version, without any options, is now at 7390 euros, instead of 6990 euros. The increase is therefore more than 5%, or 400 euros.

Citroën Ami: its price increases but still remains competitive

The small 2-seater license-free car is selling well, but delivery times have been extended in recent months. It takes about 10 weeks to be delivered if you order the car online. As a reminder, this quadricycle was developed in Casablanca and is manufactured at the Stellantis factory in Kenitra (Morocco). Finally, the automotive sector is bearing the full brunt of component shortages, which are slowing down the entire supply chain.

It remains much more accessible than other cars without a license

Despite the increase in its price, it remains much more accessible than cars without a license (accessible from the age of 14), often above 12,000 euros with a few options. Citroën explains that the margins are very small on the Ami, which explains why this 100% electric car does not benefit from the same advertising campaigns as other models of the brand.

Since its marketing, production has been just-in-time. In addition, the first cars required a recall in 2021, which had extended delivery times. This ” control and modernization campaign » concerned 4,300 vehicles with 3 to 4 weeks delay. The main problems were related to the sealing of the vehicle, as well as many other small problems of youth (robustness of the welding points, braking system, door opening and closing system, change of the wiper motor , etc).

Finally, Citroën recently stopped producing the Citroën C1 from the Czech plant in Kolin. Since 2005, nearly 1.2 million C1s have been produced, it will now be necessary to rely on the Ami for micro trips or the much more spacious C3.
