Paris Saint-Germain-Olympique de Marseille, a classico to close the sixth day of the French Ligue 1 championship. The supporters of the two clubs are ready for this meeting, symbol of the rivalry between the North and the South of France. A match which is being held in a context of crisis in the Marseille city club.

A classico to close the sixth day of the French Ligue 1 championship. Paris Saint-Germain hosts Olympique de Marseille. In history, out of 105 matches, PSG has won 49 times compared to 35 for OM. During their last confrontations, the Parisians won at the Vélodrome 3 goals to 0.

A mixed start to the season for both clubs

But this year, PSG had a sluggish start to the season in the championship. The Parisians are left with a defeat in the league against Nice at home when Marseille goes through a crisis between its supporters and the club management, causing the departure of coach Marcelino. A crisis which creates doubt among the supporters: “I hope we will win but it will be difficult”, “with the crisis, all scenarios are possible: victory as well as defeat”, “I think we will win 2-1” they confide.

In this context, the Parisian supporters are rather confident: “given the current team, we can count on a 3-0 for Paris”, “we are going to offend them once again”, “impossible that they will win at Park”. The last time OM won at the Parc des Princes was three years ago. In any case, for these supporters, there is no better match in the championship than this classic. For them, this match goes beyond football, it is a real clash between “the North and the South”.
