Coach dissatisfied – two western league teams are suffering from winter depression

Wals-Grünau and St. Johann judge themselves harshly. The two coaches criticize the players’ performance. After a short break, preparation for spring begins again.

The West League teams are going into hibernation. While Austria Salzburg, FC Pinzgau Saalfelden and Bischofshofen Sportklub 1933 started the break calmly, winter depression flared up at SV Wals-Grünau and TSV St. Johann. Wals-Grünau celebrated a conciliatory one with the 2-1 win in Kufstein Finished before the three week break. Where, after a long wait, coach Josef Bauer saw the face of his team that he so often missed in the fall: “They have finally shown what they can do.” But looking at the fall season, the coach does not spare criticism, even of himself himself: “The players have quality and I wanted to bring consistency. But I failed at that.” What does his kickers still need to work on? “The coaching team gives 120 percent. If the team had been willing to do that, there would have been more,” groaned the 57-year-old. In the end, the goal of 20 points was achieved and the single-digit place in the table was only missed by one place. “Nothing to celebrate” However, there was even more arguing almost 60 kilometers away in St. Johann, which missed its goal (20 points) by three points. “In retrospect, the fall is absolutely not satisfactory,” coach Ernst Lottermoser summed it up. In the last four games before the break, the Pongau team always got a draw. “We played great at times, but we just didn’t capitalize on it. So we keep it in our heads all winter long. “We don’t have anything to celebrate,” groaned the 56-year-old. Preparation for spring will begin in two weeks, in which the Wolves want to come from behind.
