Collien Ulmen-Fernandes explains why she couldn’t get a job as an actress after the birth of her daughter.
Collien Ulmen-Fernandes (39) has been married to her fellow actor Christian Ulmen (45) for almost ten years. In 2012, the couple’s daughter was born. It was actually a nice moment, but the birth of her child had a bitter aftertaste for the 39-year-old. She tells that to “dwdl”. Collien describes how after her pregnancy she initially did not receive any job offers, simply because of the fact that she became a mother.
“For producers you are only four years pregnant”
The actress only recently learned of the matter from colleagues. “Acting colleagues told me that for producers – mostly men – you are four years pregnant before they even think of you again,” says Collien Ulmen-Fernandes. The problem does not seem to be unknown in the industry. In fact, it took the “Traumschiff” actress four years before she was able to get hold of a bigger acting role again.
Collien Ulmen-Fernandes: Your family planning is complete
The 9-year-old daughter of Collien Ulmen-Fernandes and Christian Ulmen is now exactly the right age to come to the set, reports the actress in the podcast “Naturally Carbon dioxide” by singer Doreen Steinert. Her family planning with a child has now also been completed, says Collien: “Because I think that our daughter is now at the perfect age. She is now nine. I also think so with what we do for a living. We travel a lot with that it, I think, is just right “.
The daughter of Collien Ulmen-Fernandes and Christian has meanwhile got used to her parents’ acting career. In fact, she is considering becoming an actress later on herself.
