(AOF) – The consolidated turnover of Compagnie des Alpes for the 1st quarter of the 2021/2022 financial year amounts to 166.7 million euros, establishing a historic level for this period. Restated from leaving Les 2 Alpes, it is up 36.6% compared to the 1st quarter of the 2018/2019 financial year (last full financial year before the health crisis) and 20.5% compared to the 1st quarter. of the 2019/2020 financial year (before the start of the health crisis) despite a still heavy health context.

This performance was achieved thanks to the very good momentum of Leisure parks, whose revenue reached €99.4 million, up 43.4% compared to the first quarter of the 2018 financial year. 2019.

For its part, revenue in Ski areas reached 62.6 million euros, an increase of 25.6% compared to the first quarter of 2018-2019. While the group deems this start to the season satisfactory in a still heavy health context, it explains that it includes a positive calendar effect which skews the comparison compared to previous years. As of December 31, this quarter has 14 days of French Christmas school holidays, compared to 10 for 2018. Corrected for this effect, estimated at approximately 15 million euros, revenue is 5% lower compared to the same period of the 2018/2019 financial year.

Hospitality & Leisure: new expectations from travelers

The sector suffered a 74% drop in tourist arrivals worldwide in 2020 according to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). At 500 million, these arrivals have fallen to their level of the early 1990s.

Globally, the sector lost 1.3 trillion dollars last year following the Covid-19 pandemic. A return to normal is expected for 2023, particularly under the effect of vaccination, with changing requirements.

Continued growth for major global hoteliers

This expansion can be explained by the economic model of the major operators and by the appetite of investors, who are confident in the sector’s medium and long-term prospects.

Emergence of a new tourism
