Companies with short-time work must submit new applications

Companies received too little short-time work compensation for employees on a monthly wage. The chaos caused by the federal government probably even has consequences for hardship assistance.

Short-time work is a success story in the pandemic. In the canton of Zurich alone, applications for around 380,000 employees were received from more than 30,000 companies. The enormous number of applications could only be dealt with by means of a simplified procedure and, in Zurich, through their automated recording and processing. The goal of preserving most of the jobs that were at risk due to measures taken to contain the coronavirus was achieved.
