For several days, consumers have been worried about the presence of bubbles and white marks in jars of Nutella, fearing the presence of salmonella.

Lost trust? While a few days ago, Ferrero reminded a large number of its Kinder products following possible contamination with salmonellathe Italian group finds itself facing a new controversy.

Over the Easter weekend, several consumers reported their concern on social networks. The reason ? The presence of bubbles or white spots in Kinder eggs, Ferrero Rocher but also in jars of Nutella spread. A bizarre consistency that made some think that they were faced with a new salmonella contamination.

“A change due to storage conditions”

But for Ferrero, there is nothing to be alarmed about. On Twitter, the group gave an explanation to consumers about the appearance of these bubbles. “We would like to reassure consumers that these traces are not linked to ‘salmonella colonies’, but that they area change in the consistency of the product due to storage conditions. This in no way affects the quality and taste of the product”. In the pages of Figarothe group wished to provide additional information. “It’s a known phenomenon in the industry called ‘granini’. This corresponds to small balls of oil that form as a result of temperature variations. The appearance has no impact on the product which remains completely consumable and does not alter its taste in any way”.

Since the recall of Kinder products on April 5, the Ferrero group has recognized the presence of salmonella in one of its manufacturing plantsthat of Arlon in Belgium, which was shutdown. All products made there have been withdrawn from the market and since then consumers have been asked to return or destroy them.
