The cool water of the Goldegger See could be denied to the locals and guests this year: The lease contract between the seaside resort and the private owners, the Wiener Linie of the Galen family, has expired.
The negotiations for a new version of the lease are stalled, meanwhile the municipality has also intervened as a mediator. Mayor Hannes Rainer (ÖVP) wants to “focus on what unites”. “We try everything, public access has priority,” says Rainer. The community would be willing to act as a tenant – provided the “price is realistic and reasonable,” said the local chief.
