Your stomach is growling, the fridge is almost empty, and you are ravenously hungry. You go to do "some" shopping and you come out with a whole bunch of unnecessary things, the purchase of which was guided by hunger and the desire to eat there, quickly, now! In short, despite common sense!

Plan ahead to eat better!

This might sound pretty basic to you as a tip, but rather work by keeping a list when something is missing, adding ingredients to whatever you are going to be able to cook. Thus, you will avoid finding yourself unduly tempted.
In the shelves of the grocery store, convenience store or supermarket, pay special attention to the choice of ingredients: seasonal and local fruits and vegetables are often much cheaper (and more qualitative) than ingredients that have already come a long way.
You should also take a careful look at the arrangement of the produce: expensive foods are often at eye level, where the gaze is first. The cheaper alternatives are usually at the bottom of the shelf.

Ingenious and silly, stick to a predefined budget

Do you have any pasta, potatoes, rice or vegetables from the day before? Use your leftovers and turn them into a tasty dish. Great food should never end up wasted in the trash!
With just a few inexpensive complementary ingredients, a new dish is created in no time.
