Coronavirus: The iconic Glastonbury Festival does not take place either

The Glastonbury Festival near the English village of Pilton should actually celebrate its 50th anniversary this year. Now the huge open-air party, which was planned for the end of June, has been canceled due to the spread of the corona virus. According to an official statement, the organizers hoped that the situation in the UK would improve by June, but the virus could not be spent in the next three months with thousands of helpers on site to prepare everything for the festival.

200,000 visitors were expected

Among other things, the rapper Kendrick Lamar (32), megastar Paul McCartney (77) and pop princess Taylor Swift (30) should create a mood at the event. There were even rumors a few months ago that the British band Oasis ("Wonderwall") could celebrate their reunion at the legendary festival.

The Glastonbury Festival is one of the world's largest open air events. More than 200,000 visitors were expected for 2020, 135,000 people had already pre-ordered tickets. The organizers now want to allow pre-orders to rebook advance payments to the planned Glastonbury Festival 2021 by September. More details will follow.
