Coronavirus: wearing a mandatory mask? Christophe Castaner takes a radical decision: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

For many weeks, the coronavirus pandemic seriously affects France. While citizens want to believe in the upcoming deconfinement, two French municipalities, namely Seals and Royan, decided that to get out of their house, residents were required to wear a mask. An initiative which could be followed by Nice or Cannes and which does not please Christophe Castaner, the Minister of the Interior at all. Indeed, Thursday, April 9, 2020, during a hearing by the fact-finding mission of the National Assembly, whose main theme was obviously the coronavirus, he declared to have "asked the prefects to speak with mayors so thatthey withdraw their orders during the entire period of confinement", reports The Parisian.

Christophe Castaner highlighted the inequalities of these orders

He questions the orders made to force residents to wear a mask in order to be able to leave their home. But according to him, these orders have a "legal basis which is more than uncertain" and "set out questionable principles to say the least". Above all, he wanted to add that the wearing of masks in the face of the epidemic"is not medically proven". Christophe Castaner also wanted to highlight the inequality that could result from such orders. "Some municipalities may have the means to equip their entire population with a mask, while others would not have it."Although he is currently asking for the withdrawal of these orders, he has not been completely closed on this idea, but he wants above all to discuss it with all the mayors.
